This talk is a provocation encouraging the audience to think along on the subject of what makes a certain company the world’s greatest workplace.
Apart from the relatively self-assertive presentation style of Vishen Lakhiani, founder and CEO of Mindvalley, the talk must be recognised for its substance. Because Mindvalley operates in the field of the internet marketing of personal development products, I took quite a close look at their work. I came to the conclusion that their competitive edge does not lie in neither technology nor even in internet marketing expertise, but in an organisation culture based on talents working together. After about 20 years in the training and consulting business, I well know that talented people function better when left to their own devices. However, a team of talents is an extremely rare phenomenon, because its leader needs to consciously balance himself between the roles of a top professional (otherwise he will not be respected by others) and a team player – it is the only way to merge different personalities into a united team. I admire leaders who know how to achieve this and it seems that Vishen Lakhiani is one of them.
Take 50 minutes of your time to enjoy Vishen’s talk. If possible, go listen to his presentation at the Pärnu Management Conference in October 2013.
